And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready (Equip) a people prepared for the Lord. Luke 1:17

The EKD Model, at its very core, enables the Church to face this dual challenge.  Firstly and of utmost importance, it will produce fully equipped believers and, secondly, guide believers to spiritual maturity, answering to the challenge of Romans 8:29 – equipped and mature to do the work of the ministry and able to deal with tribulation, any form of setback and economic crisis. This material was put together and field-tested over a period of 21 years.  During this time of discipleship, many trainees were eventually functioning as trainers and even lecturers.  Matured, they made contributions to this material, too, out of their own experience. It gives me great pleasure to present unto you this, the EKD Model.

What is the EKD Model?

It is the method and the message by which, and through which, a man and a woman can become a duplication of Christ and to enable multiplication after “the measure of His full stature”.

How did it come into existence?

After a lot of personal experience in life, a ministry spanning more than 60 years, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, this material was compiled.

What is the purpose?

According to Romans 8:29 “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren”, to bring about the conformation to the image of Christ and to establish the brotherhood of Christ.  

How does the implementation take place?

This takes place, through the pastor (the set man) of the local church, by:

1. Bringing such pastor into a leadership clinic.
2. He is exposed to the method and the content of the material.
3. After which he can evaluate the need for the process and introduce it to his local church council. 
4. And then with their approval, to enlist and equip faithful, available and teachable men and women of his local church.
5. Such trainees can then become trainers to train others.

What does the curriculum consists of?

Five modules:

Module 1:Orientation

Module 2:Vital Companionship

Module 3:Ethics

Module 4:Discipleship

Module 5:Word and Spirit

Each module consists of 8 hour-long lectures from the prescribed written material presented over a period of 8 weeks, for an hour per week.

Note:

The purpose of the EKD Model is, and you must understand, that it is critical that you approach the model from a spiritual point of view and not hope to gain academical qualifications only.  You have to ask yourself the following questions:  

•What is the universal church in need of?  The universal church is filled with academics.  

•How many Christ-like followers are there in the universal church?  

•Another question you should ask yourself:  

-Your vision of “life-giving”, how will it benefit from the EKD Model?

I, therefore, urgently ask you to familiarise yourself with this model and the implementation thereof 

and afterwards you can decide for yourself whether it is of value to you.
